Ben Franklin Said Think Again!
Is That Even Worth Doing?

Benjamin Franklin (1706–1790) was one of the Founding Fathers of the United States and a polymath who made significant contributions in various fields.
I came across one of Ben Franklin’s quotes on writing the other day:
“Either write something worth reading or
Do something worth writing.”

This was my exact problem when I first started writing in April 2022.
I was writing to become a content creator.
I didn’t know what to write about, and I was about to start a blog!
I started with topics from philosophy
and enjoyed writing articles about philosophical topics,
and yet, something did not feel “natural” to me.
My writings were kinda - d e t a c h e d .
I really wanted to write like I was texting my buddies,
where I simply engage in a conversation with my readers,
but for some reason I couldn’t bring myself to do that.
I sounded like a damn chat bot,
spitting out blocks of information in a cold and impersonal manner.
I was very ashamed.
FAST FORWARD TO NOVEMBER 2023,
I have taken a year off from Medium and X already.
I’ve gotten back onto these platforms in order to bolster my newsletter.
This time, I have a lot more experience in writing because of the YouTube videos I’ve been publishing.
I seem to have resolved some of my “unnatural” / detached problems through:
having to constantly look for topics to write about
finding interesting angles of life to film
and
actually feeling through the material I have gathered during editing
Of course, I am far from where I want to be…
but my struggles of becoming have really been the compass of my self-development journey.
WHAT IS ACTUALLY WORTH READING?
For me, it’s other people’s experiences and perspectives.
Life is too short to try to learn everything on our own.
This is why complex language is one of the biggest favors that evolution has done for us.
Meaning is found in experience.
Although experience is subjective,
it is this subjectivity that gives meaning to the things we do.
It is in these meaning that we have assigned to phenomena
that makes an otherwise boring life interesting.
WHAT IS WORTH DOCUMENTING?
Everything is worth documenting if we can put a meaningful spin to it.
There are opportunities for new discoveries and lessons at every turn,
but…
ONLY if we pay closer attention and inquire about the nature of:
our own minds, our selves
our surroundings
and
how these 2 interact to form our perspectives and feelings about everything
What do you guys think?
What is something that is worth your time reading?
What is something that is worth your time doing?
Are your reading material and activity related? How so?

WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING?
I’ve gained more newsletter subscribers this week, yay!
Views on Medium are still picking up. I’m starting to think some publications work better for my stories than others.
I’m feeling a bit less awkward about just sitting down and writing. Also, it is getting slightly easier to come up with titles for my pieces.
I’ve finally published a video on my YouTube channel after over 1 month of inactivity. You can watch it >HERE<, it’s less than 7 min long.
